September 2024 Newsletter

Dear Friends,

OM !

We are delighted to share with you today our second Newsletter of the year 2024! We trust you had a relaxing time during this summer and that peace and joy are dwelling in your heart!

The beginning of this year was marked by a major event that took place on the 9th of March and which affected all of us: the Mahasamadhi or Great Departure of His Holiness Sri Chandra Swami Udasin, the beloved Master of Swami Atmananda.

Here at the ashram, words fail us in expressing our deep gratitude for the countless Blessings received from Sri Gurudev over the years! May His Grace forever be upon all of us!

A brief look at past programmes in 2024

The first meetings began in India with a 10-day programme in Tiruvannamalai (Jan-Feb) followed by the satsang season at the Ajatananda Ashram (Feb-Mar). After this very dense period, the European season started, from April to June, during which many joined both in-person (Belgium, France, UK, Hungary and Spain) and online (Pentecost retreat).

Heartfelt gratitude to all the Friends who made these events possible!

An important message of Swami Atmananda

Swami Ji has informed us of his wish to partially retire from his teaching activities after twelve intense years of sharing satsang in India and abroad. The time has come for Swami Ji to limit his travels in the future because of his age, but also and above all in response to an inner call to devote himself to a more contemplative life in India.

His European programmes will now be non-residential: mainly in Paris, London and Brussels, along with the two Sangha days in winter and spring in Francheville, France.

This means, regrettably, that the annual residential retreats in Assisi (Italy), Saint-Antoine-l’Abbaye (France), La Ciotat (France) and Barcelona (Spain) will no longer take place.

However, in addition to the European meetings, Swami Ji will continue to give satsang in India at the Ajatananda Ashram (Rishikesh) during the autumn and spring seasons, but only for three weeks (instead of the usual four), the last one including the three-day intensive retreat.

The annual programme of satsangs in Tiruvannamalai (Tamil Nadu), will remain unchanged.

Please note that, besides the in-person meetings, four online events will also be organised each year and broadcast from the ashram.

Aware that this difficult but necessary decision to reduce his teaching programmes in Europe and India will affect a large number of its students, Swami Ji sincerely hopes that everyone will be able to accept and adapt to this new phase. His heart remains with everyone, and it will always be possible to turn to him for more personal guidance during these programmes.

Schedule of our forthcoming programmes

Please see below the new 2024-25 programme.

Our next satsang season at the Ajatananda Ashram in Rishikesh (North India) will start next month on 19th October and will conclude with a non-residential retreat from 3rd to 6th November

The first online satsang will then take place on 8 November 2024. The dates of the online meetings in February, March, and April 2025 will be announced by e-mail and in our next Newsletter for the New Year.

We are pleased to share with you the calendar for the end of the year and the coming year, up to June!

Thank you all for your presence and support!
We look forward to meeting you soon in India, Europe or online!

Swami Atmananda sends you his warmest greetings and blessings!

OM!

The Ajatananda Ashram Team
